“Feeling Seen”

Workshops exploring identity, confidence and visibility through portraiture, delivered across schools, charities and leadership institutions

Identity. Visibility. Presence.

These workshops use simple creative exercises to explore how

we are seen and how we choose to show up.

No artistic experience required.

This will influence how we think about recognition and being seen, particularly in future leadership and command decisions.

Queens Gate School, London

“Year 6 pupils from Queen’s Gate School took part in an inspiring workshop at Green and Stone Gallery, led by Caroline de Peyrecave. Set within the Empowering Her exhibition, the session invited the girls to explore themes of identity, confidence and visibility through portraiture.

The pupils engaged with the work thoughtfully, offering perceptive observations and responding to the themes with maturity and curiosity. Through a series of guided exercises, they explored how to express themselves visually, stepping beyond their comfort zones in a supportive and encouraging environment.

A highlight of the workshop was creating their own portrait drawings, giving them space to express individuality and build confidence through looking and being seen.

It was a powerful and memorable experience, with the pupils representing Queen’s Gate School with great pride.”

The Stoll Foundation, London

“Women from The Stoll Foundation took part in a workshop at Green and Stone Gallery led by Caroline de Peyrecave. The session offered a warm and welcoming space for reflection, creativity and connection.

Set within the Empowering Her exhibition, participants were invited to engage with the stories behind the portraits and reflect on their own experiences of identity and voice. The group responded with openness and honesty, sharing moments of confidence as well as times when they have felt less heard.

One participant reflected that the workshop helped her feel more connected, highlighting the importance of spaces that encourage expression and belonging. A highlight of the session was the portrait drawing exercise, where participants drew each other — a simple but powerful way to build confidence, trust and connection.

For many, the experience of stepping outside their usual environment and into the gallery space was particularly meaningful. It offered a sense of independence, creativity and uplift, reinforcing the value of accessible, supportive artistic spaces.

It was a deeply positive and empowering experience for everyone involved, with participants leaving feeling more connected, confident and seen.”

Tyler Abdul Foundation, Studio, Surrey

Participants from the Tyler Abdul Foundation joined Caroline de Peyrecave in her Surrey studio for a workshop exploring identity, self-expression and confidence through portraiture.

Working in a more personal studio setting, the session created space for honest reflection and creative exploration. Participants were encouraged to think beyond surface appearances, considering how they see themselves and how they wish to be seen by others.

Through guided drawing exercises, including both object-based work and portraiture, the group explored themes of voice, perception and individuality. The studio environment allowed for a deeper level of focus and connection, supporting a sense of openness and trust within the group.

The workshop formed part of the foundation’s wider mission to support young people in building confidence, self-worth and a stronger sense of identity — values closely aligned with the ethos of Empowering Her.

It was a thoughtful and engaging session, with participants embracing the opportunity to express themselves in a space that felt both creative and safe.

Across all settings, these workshops create space for participants to feel seen, develop confidence in their voice, and engage more thoughtfully with how they see others.
